PeaceHealth Dietitian l or II - Bariatric Center in Springfield, Oregon

PeaceHealth is seeking a Dietitian II for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position.

As part of a multidisciplinary, outpatient clinic you will work with a dynamic team of surgeons, physician assistants, psychologist, nurses, and support staff. Working as a bariatric dietitian is very rewarding; patients are highly motivated, you get to build long-term relationships, and be part of their ongoing health journey both before and after bariatric surgery. Job duties include one-on-one nutrition counseling, teaching group nutrition classes, and leading support groups.

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $31.70 – $47.54. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

DETAILS OF THE POSITION:

  • Competent use of the Nutrition Care Process including: nutrition assessment, identification of nutritional diagnosis, implementation of appropriate nutrition intervention, and formulation of patient specific goals, monitoring, evaluation and follow up of outcomes.

  • Using evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines to provide nutrition education to patients and families in the outpatient and/or inpatient settings.

  • Provides consult services to other healthcare providers and participates in the interdisciplinary team. Uses evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines

  • Documents in the EMR in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.

  • When appropriate, makes referrals to other services, agencies and community resources.

  • Actively contributes to Quality/Process Improvement measures within the department and throughout the hospital including planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Master's Degree Required in a related field of study. Caregivers who earned their RD license before 1/1/2024 when a bachelor's degree was sufficient will be grandfathered.

  • Minimum of 3 years Required: Experience in a related setting as a Registered Dietitian

  • Required Upon Hire: Registered Dietitian

  • Required Upon Hire: National Dietitian Certifications Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), or Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, or Board Certified Specialist in - Oncology Nutrition, Renal Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition, Sports Dietetics, Gerontological Nutrition, or Nutrition Wound Care, as applicable to work performed is required.   • May be required Upon Hire: Certified Dietitian - Washington Required only for Outpatient Dietitians in WA. Inpatient Dietitians are not required to maintain state certification.

  • May be required Upon Hire: Licensed Dietitian - Oregon Required only for Outpatient and PHMG/Ambulatory Dietitians in OR. Inpatient Dietitians are not required to maintain state certification.

  • May be required : Current Medicare provider status number

  • May be required : Drivers License and auto insurance

  • Demonstrated skill in teaching adults of varying competency levels. (Required)

  • Must be able to design, implement, and evaluate instructional modules. (Required)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Required)

  • Ability to interact with all a variety of departments and to work independently on numerous projects simultaneously. (Required)

  • Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications. (Required)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)

  • Participates in program events, including information sessions, pre/postoperative weight loss groups, bariatric forums, and support groups.

  • Specialist certification in Obesity and Weight management issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required or must obtain within 12 months of hire.
