  • Experience with building management and staff engagement.

  • Experience with Living-Learning Communities.

  • Experience with retention and student success programming.

Job Description

The Associate Director for Residential Experience will serve as the secondary leader for a robust unit centered on developing a supportive and engaging learning environment for on-campus students. This position will oversee 3 Assistant Directors responsible for a functional area and supervision of community staff members. The Associate Director will partner to help architect the transformation of the residential experience with a focus on enhancing student support and increasing retention rates. This position will report to the Director of Residential Experience.

Job Duties

SUPERVISION :

  • Directly supervise three Assistant Directors in functional areas, indirectly supervise 20 Residence Directors, four functional coordinators, six Graduate Assistants, and 260 Resident Assistants.

    EXPERIENCE DEVELOPMENT :

  • Assist in the oversight and implementation of a cohesive and comprehensive residential experience rooted in the goals of student success and retention.

  • Develop initiatives with a strong focus on community development and overseeing the development of a cohesive and comprehensive residential experience rooted in student success and retention goals, student engagement, and involvement.

    OPERATIONS :

  • Ensure a quality student and professional staff training and development series.

  • Oversee all process coordination including but not limited to opening, closing, break periods.

  • Support a year-round recruitment process for student and professional staff.

    STUDENT SUPPORT AND CRISIS RESPONSE :

  • Directly oversee an on-call structure focused on providing support to students during and after hours.

  • Serve as an architect and manager for complex processes and procedures, including management of manuals, and other operational resources to ensure maximum service delivery.

  • Develop and grow a student-of-concern intervention program that seamlessly integrates with existing campus resources.

    DEPARTMENTAL ADMINISTRATION :

  • Collaborate with Housing Administrative Services ( HAS ) and Housing Facilities Services ( HFS ) units to ensure a seamless student experience.

  • Manage the planning and coordination of major initiatives for the Residential Experience unit.

  • Liaison between business operations staff regarding budget and purchasing compliance for the residential experience unit.

  • Responsible for the implementation of assessment efforts of the unit.
