Fresenius Medical Care North America Sr. Desktop Support Specialist in Lake Bluff, Illinois


The Sr. Desktop Support Specialist responds, troubleshoots, and resolves customers’ technical issues/questions. Evaluate and recommend vendor packages and implement required software. Assist in the evaluation and testing of hardware. Responsible for the maintenance and ongoing support of Corporate Remedy tickets and must demonstrate the ability to complete projects as assigned while meeting deadlines.


  • Provide Level III PC,laptops and peripheral support to employees according to established company guidelines and standard operating procedures.

  • Research, evaluate and recommend new PC hardware technologies.

  • Document procedures for Desktop Support “fixes” for distribution to the Help Desk.

  • Oversee and coordinate hardware and software rollouts to the corporate offices in accordance with established company policies and procedures.

  • Configure new hardware, software and peripherals to work efficiently on a network environment.

  • Maintain software repository and all accompanying documentation and licenses.

  • Maintain and support applications on customer desktops.

  • Create and maintain Desktop Support PC and laptops inventory for Lexington, Waltham and offsite locations.

  • Develop and maintain Desktop Support procedures in accordance with established company policies and procedures.

  • Provide technical expertise and mentoring to PC Support Specialist.

  • Identify, research, eliminate and document problem trends.

  • Provide project coordination and management using project management and time management tools.

  • Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance for PC’s, laptops, and related peripherals.

  • Normally receives no instruction on routine daily work, and general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

  • May provide assistance to junior staff with more complex support tasks that require a higher level of understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor.

  • May escalate issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.

  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Install phones & modify configurations on the front-end.

  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree desirable


  • 2 – 4 years’ related experience.

  • Technical certifications a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of all PC hardware and multiple PC operating systems.

  • Requires an analytically-minded individual with the ability to perform under time constraints.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
