Honeywell R&D Scientist III - X-ray Fluorescence in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

This position is responsible for a variety of professional level engineering or scientific responsibilities. Uses advanced knowledge of engineering or scientific discipline, processes, and tools to complete and ensure compliance of various project subtasks. Leads efforts of internal stakeholders and team members, and interacts with external customers, to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications. Helps to refine and improve engineering processes. Acts as a mentor to lower-level Engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate technical information of a moderate to complex level specific to segment/area of responsibility, in timely, constructive manner to stakeholders.

  • Act as an ambassador (professional, accurate, technically reliable) for the organization to leadership and customers.

  • Contribute to negotiations with external parties to drive agreements on concepts, practices, processes, or approach. Listen openly, with a focus on learning and customer satisfaction, and leverages areas of expertise to influence internal/external stakeholder direction. Presents effectively to varied audiences.

  • Communicate technical information competently and can respond to multiple technical questions beyond surface.

  • Demonstrate continued growth in terms of presence and agility during presentations.

  • Serve as advisor/mentor in areas of product or process expertise to less experienced.

  • Provide technical guidance and project leadership on moderate to complex analytical products in a clear, comprehensible manner to multiple levels of stakeholders.

  • Establish and apply methodology to new concepts and recommend enhancements to advance projects and processes. - Identify and propose technical improvements using engineering knowledge and principals. Scientist: Participate in establishing operating procedures on new products and components. Plan and perform testing and development programs and use advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve technical problems. Design and/or develop unique equipment or special instruments to meet specific requirements.

  • Develop solutions to complex problems. Lead teams in problem-solving efforts. Use advanced statistical and scientific methods to address or resolve engineering and production problems.

  • Plan and execute project subtasks to meet customer specifications. Review overall project status and risks. Create and execute plans for project status improvements.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent.

  • 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the business

  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

  • United States Citizenship.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

  • Assist other scientists, engineers, and technicians with a variety of day-to-day recurring tasks.

  • Possess a strong customer-service focus, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers who have limited knowledge of XRF techniques.

  • Possess a willingness to work either as an independent investigator or as a member of a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team, depending on the nature of the situation.

  • Possess the ability to generate accurate and precise analytical data, interpret/analyze data, prepare formal reports, and make formal presentations of results, conclusions, and recommendations.

  • May lead teams in problem-solving efforts.
