Job Description

Iron Mountain Data Centers is looking to hire a high-performing Program Manager to join our growing team. This individual will oversee the successful planning and execution of our hyperscale deliveries, which could be multi-megawatt data halls to complete buildings. The Program Manager leads complex, multi-million-dollar new construction hyperscale data center projects and is responsible for identifying the program requirements and operational integrity, engaging with internal customers, and supporting the program through the entire project life cycle. These large complex projects will require strong project management, communications, customer relationship, analytical skills, and data center construction and operations knowledge. Additionally, you will closely collaborate with our design & construction, account management, security, operations, data warehouse/reporting, bms, network, and legal teams to successfully deliver on time and against our contractual requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects for project implementation of IMDC products and services for our hyperscale customer installations and related projects – elicit requirements, support contract approval process, monitor and summarize the process of project schedule, evaluate and analyze risk

  • Program Management responsibilities include oversight and delegation of project scopes and objectives, project planning documentation, communication, task resource availability management, change and risk management, project performance tracking, ensuring all team-managed projects are completed to high standards of quality, on time, within scope and budget.

  • Develop and oversee project schedule and monitor/update as the project progresses, including communications externally to the customer and internally to the project team and executives.

  • Manages the streamlining of information flow between customers and the organization, escalating discussions, as appropriate, to promote the business needs of the customer

  • Lead cross-functional, globally distributed teams in the successful and on-time delivery of hyperscale customer installations

  • Meets project outcomes, including commitments around performance, schedule, cost, and resources.

  • Provide steady leadership amid uncertainty, change, and aggressive deadlines common to a growing company with an evolving business model.

  • Is the focal point for change management, issue management, and escalation resolutions.

  • Manage all aspects of given initiatives, from requirements gathering to implementation over the entire lifecycle.

  • Ensure that the scope of the projects aligns with business priorities. Manage relationships with key stakeholders and sponsors, and escalate project risks on a timely basis for decision resolution and disposition.

  • Produce all relevant program management deliverables such as objectives and requirements, risk assessments, project plans, budgets, status reports, open issues logs, action items list etc.

  • Support project and program managers within and outside the program.

  • Applies company and industry program and project management best practices with agility, ensuring processes, standards, and governance plans are effective and align with the data center’s mission, culture, and strategic priorities.

Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:

  • Strong experience running complex global programs and projects, effectively leading across matrixed teams applying various methodologies and strategies

  • Familiarity with data center design and construction

  • Familiarity with data center facilities operations and/or data center colocation services

  • Proven ability to build and lead integrated teams (business and technology) from various internal and external organizations across multiple sites

  • Adept at helping team members harness and develop strengths in pursuit of successful project outcomes

  • Ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives with a minimal amount of supervision

  • Ability to engage cross-functionally across multiple, complex teams to achieve results

  • Proven problem-solving, escalation and decision management decision-making, and communications skills

  • Effective consultative and influencing approach

  • Proven ability to enact change quickly and effectively

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels, including with globally dispersed teams

  • PMP and Scrum Master certifications desired; Strong project management/process background required; 10+ years of experience with a variety of methodologies (i.e., Waterfall and Agile) and proficiency in common project planning tools such as MS Project

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree desirable or career/experience equivalent

  • Travel may be required and is dependent on program needs
