Wage Range: $25.00-$40.00/hour (part-time/varied shifts possibly up to 30 hours)

POSITION SUMMARY: Assesses the nutritional needs of patients, directs the development and implementation of nutritional care plan, evaluates and reports these results appropriately.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Position requires walking, standing sitting for prolonged periods of time. * Occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds and carries small objects from waist to chest. * Must be able to speak, read and write. * Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. * Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

SKILLS: Completes assessments for all patients as requested by nursing staff. Actively communicates with the nursing and dietary staff to meet patient needs. Communicates appropriate nutritional care data through the patient's medical chart. Evaluates nutritional care of patients and provides follow-up for continuity of care. Interpret, evaluate and utilize pertinent research related to nutritional care. Efficiently utilizes humans effort, the appropriate tools and other facilitating resources in providing quality nutritional care. Participate in patient staffings and other committees involved in patient care as deemed necessary. Counsels patients and family in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and how to adapt them to their lifestyles. Compiles and develops educational material and uses them as aids in education for patients and employees. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition. Must be licensed as Registered Dietician. STAFF DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS: Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements. EXPOSURE CATEGORY: I Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
